Following from an award-winning run, the Denon AVR1912 now offers the benefits of networking including Apple's popular AirPlay.
Coming after the highly reviewed AVR1910 and AVR1911, the new AVR1912 model shares all that's good about its forbearers but is now better specced than ever. Coming with an Ethernet socket, this is the first 1900 model that's network ready. Simply connect to your home network using an Ethernet connection and you can access over 12,000 Internet radio sites via radioDenon.com as well as subscription services such as last.fm. Additionally, you can stream music via DLNA from other sources such as your laptop or NAS drive. This is also one of the first Denon AVRs to be compatible with Apple's AirPlay wireless music system. Simply download the necessary App and stream your iTunes music library from your iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad to the Denon. With other AirPlay products available, this could also make the start of a cost effective multi-room system.
As before, the Denon AVR-1912 features Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby Pro-Logic IIz decoders. There's also an impressive 90 watts per channel. As you'd expect from one of the leading home cinema brands, the AVR-1912 is not just about features but quality, too. Independent power supplies, custom capacitors, short signal paths and a 32-bit floating point DSP all contribute to superb sound quality. Thanks to the Compressed Audio Restorer, even MP3 files can sound good through the Denon. Working in conjunction with this a front-mounted USB socket that lets you connect and control an iPod or iPhone without the need for a separate dock. This high quality digital transfer improves the sound over many docks, in addition to being cost effective.
Another improvement to the latest Denon AVR is an additional two HDMI sockets.
Now boasting six sockets, the AVR1912 can handle the most complex of systems with ease. As before, these HDMI sockets are 3D TV compatible and feature an Audio Return Chanel (ARC) to allow for a single connection cable between TV and receiver.
Thanks to a new set-up wizard and GUI (Graphic User Interface) display, setting up the AVR-1912 is easier than ever. With the higher spec MultEQ XT technology it's also better, too. The XT version of this automatic measuring and set-up device features extra modes and offers the option to measure from eight points rather than the more basic version's six. For an even greater level of fine tuning you can now also adjust digital input level.
Whether you're watching films or listening to music, the Denon AVR1912 is just as impressive as ever. But, thanks to the networking ability, your choice of source has just got a whole lot wider.
